I took a break from spelling list this week to re-assess the class to see where we were when it came to knowing the spelling the rules. Good news....we have improved! What also became clearly evident is that the students in our class have very different needs. After giving the assessment and analyzing the data I realized that based on the students' needs our class should be divided into two separate spelling groups. Half of the class will be working on recognizing and using different vowel patterns and the other half of the class will be working on consonant blends.
The vowel group will get a new list of words on Monday with the spelling test being on Friday. The consonant blend group will be given new words on Friday with the spelling test being on Thursday.
Please ask your child which group they are in!!
