Homework Reminder

As the year goes on, kids sometimes get less and less motivated. We have had some homework issues this week. We have had several students who have had their things done on time this week. (And of course we have had several do everything on time as well. So if you are one of those students, pat yourself on the back!)

Please be sure that when you sign that assignment book at night that you make sure that everything has been done. Sometimes assignment books get signed, and homework is not done! Each night students are to read for 2o minutes. They also usually have either math minute or corrections. Spelling tests are always on Friday, so study those throughout the week as well.

Just a reminder to check carefully before you sign!

Historical Hall of Fame

This quarter students will be focusing on biographies. We are studying Rosa Parks as a class, and each child has selected his/her own person to research and read about. They have been doing a great job of reading and taking notes! Please keep encouraging them! Soon we will begin the writing process and each student will write a biography about their person.

Then each student will create a poster (provided here at school). The title of this board is "Who Am I?" On the board they will place clues about their person.

On February 5th we will have our History Hall of Fame. Parents and guests will be invited to visit the cafe to see all the fourth graders projects. The students will stand by their poster, and also have the opportunity to dress up as their character. This may be as simple of having just a few props. Guests can ask questions as they attempt to guess who they are!

Most of this project will be done at school, however some home support will be needed as well. Students will need encouragement to keep going...this is a long project. They will need to read and take notes at home as well. We will visit the computer lab to print their reports and clues to put on their board. Some of the poster board work will be done at home as well.

Please have fun with your child during this project! It is a great learning experience for your child as researching, reporting writing, and presenting will be part of your child's life throughout their educational and adult life.

Make Up Days
