We Have Lots Going On!

We have been busy! It seems like we just get caught up and then all of a sudden we get behind again.
In writing we have been working on research! Each student has picked an animal and has been busy doing research every day. Today we worked on organizing our research. Each student as determined what category they need to do more research in. Ask your child what animal he/she is researching and what they need more of....maybe you could help them look it up online!
We have begun ISTEP prep. So from time to time you may see ISTEP packets coming home....sometimes they have have homework in these packets as well. ISTEP begins at the end of February and we have a lot to do before then!
We will be traveling to Fort Wayne to attend the Shrine Circus this Thursday! Remember to pack a lunch (if you signed up to do so). We will be leaving promptly at 9:00 am!
Junior Acheivement started today. The students will be learning about cities and zoning over the next six weeks. Looking forward to a lot of fun!

Report Card Incentives

There are several businesses that offer report card incentives to kids. Our report card looks different, but I know parents who take advantage of these incentives. You just have to explain what the target level is (3=Mastered) and show that your child met the target. Very simple. I listed some of the businesses below....most are Ft. Wayne locations, but I know local companies participate as well. If you know of any I left off the list, please let me know so I can add them! And as always, before making a special trip...a phone call to the business may be helpful!! If you find any that no longer offer this special, please let me know that as well so I can remove it.

Circus Forms Due Monday!

Just a reminder that the circus forms are due Monday! You will need to sign your child up for the lunch choice, and sign if you are interested in being a chaperone. We have a limited amount of chaperones for each class. We have already exceeded this number with the slips that have been turned in....and I know we have several that have not been turned in yet. We will be having a drawing on Monday, January 17th to see which chaperones will attend. I will keep the others who are interested in the drawing as back up if for some reason someone has to cancel.

Early Dismissal Policy

Your child should have a blue paper in their book bag informing you of what would happen if we had an early dismissal due to weather (OES handbook page 15). Latchkey will remain open until 6:00 pm. Due to the limited amount of phone lines we will not be calling parents. There will be a mass email sent to email that you provided at registration time. If you would like your child to change their dismissal procedure in the in the event of an early dismissal, please make sure you contact the office and follow the procedures outlined in the student handbook.
