I challenged the students to write about what is going on in our classroom! Encourage your child to fill out a "blog application" and write about something he or she enjoys about our class! They must plan their post by filling out an application, including: title, the actual post, and if they want to attach a picture (with camera or from Internet). Challenge your child to try this!!

Coming Home.....
Please check your child's book bag tonight. I have sent home an outline of the content will be working on during quarter 1 for word study, writing, reading, and math. Everything on this outline will not actually be reported out onto the report card. If there is ever a time you want something extra to work on at home, please refer to this outline to find something appropriate or just ask me.
There is also a rubric attached to this page. I created this rubric as a general rubric for you to refer to when you see a 4,3,2, or 1 at the top of your child's paper. The goal/target level is a 3 which is mastery. Please keep this rubric somewhere safe. If you ever need another one, please just let me know. Below is a summary of the information on the rubric, just not in table form.

Writing Workshop
Writing workshop took us outside today to the Garden of OES. In the Garden we were able to use our five senses to observe what was going on around us. We took notes on what we observed and then proceeded to write about the experience. Several students got the opportunity to smell some mint that was growing. Everyone stayed on task and worked hard!!
